Dates for your (surfing) diary

When Hannah was a kid, Fresh West was one of the quietest beaches around. Always beautiful, the waters were too treacherous for swimming so other beaches offered more entertainment. Even in the height of summer, you could usually have the beach to yourself. Not these days: with Fresh being one of the most popular beaches in the county for surfing it’s often hard to find a parking space between the campervans.

The consistent conditions at Fresh have attracted the attention of the Welsh Surfing Federation (http://www NULL.welshsurfingfederation NULL.org NULL.uk/index NULL.php), who have made it the location for the Welsh National Surf Championships. The WSF, who describe Fresh as “ever reliable” and having “incredible surfing conditions”, are celebrating their 40th year by being recognised by the International Surfing Association (http://www NULL.isasurf NULL.org/isa-announces-wales-as-74th-member-nation) . They’re not the only ones who appreciate our local rips, both the British Longboard Union and Ripcurl also schedule events at Fresh:
